Mallorca is a beautiful island off the coast of Spain, and even better, United has direct flights from Newark. This was a huge factor for in our decision to choose Mallorca, as we wanted to minimize stopovers. I will say we did not enjoy our stopover in Newark as we endured several delays, something Newark is apparently famous for. However, we did depart on the day we were supposed to and all was well.

Deciding what locations in Mallorca to visit and where to stay can be daunting. After much research we chose Puerto de Pollensa and Port de Sóller and they did not disappoint. For transportation, we flew into Palma and rented a car. We chose a small car which I recommend if you are planning on driving through the mountains. The roads through the Tramuntana mountains are gorgeous but also narrow and winding.

Highlights

  • Pollensa and Puerto de Sóller. Lovely towns on the water with sidewalk cafes and shopping.

  • Drive through the Tramuntana mountains - stunning.

  • Private boat ride through Poseidon Mallorca

  • Direct flight from US to Palma.

Skip it

  • Deia. Everyone says it is must-see. We found it crowded, difficult to park, and touristy.

  • Cala Deia. See above. There are less-crowded beaches that are just as nice or nicer.
